Question for Jehovah's Witnesses: Spirit-Direction?

Jehovah's Witnesses are taught by the Governing Body that the Watch Tower Society is Jehovah's "spirit directed" organisation.

My question is, how does the Spirit direct it?

  1. Are you spirit-directed? If so, how does it do so?

  2. I am spirit-directed. He guides me when I read the inspired Word, he guides me through circumstances. But I do not claim to be the sole spirit-directed Christian on earth.

    I recognise that you will not be familiar with being directed, or led, by God's Spirit;
    Romans 8:14 For all who are led by God’s spirit, these are God’s sons.

    As you are not a child of God through the rebirth from the Holy Spirit, I trust you never, ever claim to feel led by the Holy Spirit.

    Alternatively, if you have felt led or directed by the Spirit, congratulations! You're a son of God! Welcome, brother, into the family of God.

    However, you or I claiming to be directed by God's spirit is one thing, claiming to be the sole spirit-directed group, the only channel of communication of God on earth is another. It is a claim that, due to its extraordinary hugeness, requires extraordinary evidence to back it up.

    Is there such evidence?

  3. "He guides me when I read the inspired Word, he guides me through circumstances."

    So you're saying that being spirit-directed does NOT make you inspired in all of your utterances or even any? What if you make a mistake or misinform your friends? Does that mean you are not or never were led by the spirit?

    The rest is a red herring.

    The difference between me being led by the spirit and the Watch Tower Society's huge claim to be God's only spirit-directed organisation on earth is that my views don't affect the lives of 7 million + people on earth.

    So, for example, if I decide that married couples should not engage in oral sex as it is displeasing to Jehovah, no one will pay any attention to me. And right so. Or if I stated that organ transplants is disgusting to Jehovah and that no true Christian would ever have one even if their life depended on it, no one would pay attention to me, and as a result, no one would die; no parents would mourn the loss of a child, no wife would mourn the loss of her husband, etc.

    I don't personally know of any spirit-led Christian who claims to solely speak for God and whose word should not be questioned. I don't know any Christian who claims that 1) Jehovah and Jesus implicit trust them, so 2) every Christian on earth should too.

    "The rest is a red herring."

    Can you clarify, please, what parts of it are the red herring? All of the rest of it? The parts from Romans 8? Or the part whereby extraordinary evidence is needed to support the Governing Body's claim to be God's sole channel of communication on earth today?
