Where's Jesus This Month?

I've previously pondered on the Jehovah's Witness practise of preaching a different gospel.
The September 'Kingdom Ministry' once again emphasises this.

  • misguide religious zeal
  • suffering in silence
  • prayer
  • marital betrayal
No Jesus as crucified Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.

Why not?

  1. Just wondering:

Where do you get the Our Kingdom Ministry from?

  2. An active Jehovah's Witness kindly scans and makes available for download to anyone who's interested, various Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society publications.

    I, on occasion, avail myself.

    Just wondering, however:

    Where's Jesus?

  3. Surely you know that these are suggestions only and are connected to the distribution of our magazines for the month. In themselves, they prove nothing, they are simply facilitate scriptural discusiion.
As far as Jesus location, I think we all know he was resurrected to heaven.
Are you sure this is a wise use of your time?

  4. "Surely you know that these are suggestions only and are connected to the distribution of our magazines for the month."

Correct. I do know that. However, my question is simple: why preach these topics and not "Christ alone"?

"In themselves, they prove nothing, they are simply facilitate scriptural discusiion."

What scriptural discussion should Jehovah's Witnesses be undertaking with the public as they clock up their 1 billion + hours per year? If mankind is standing under Jehovah's judgement, and the only hope of salvation comes through trust and believing in Jesus Christ, as the Bible makes clear, why talk about "marital betrayal"?

"As far as Jesus location, I think we all know he was resurrected to heaven. "

Ah, see now you're just deliberately being obnoxious. However, by doing so you're demonstrating to the readers how flippant Jehovah's Witnesses are trained to be towards Jesus Christ.

Witnesses claim that they alone have restored true Christianity, per the 1st C model. However, a cursory flick through the pages of Acts, and then Paul, Peter, and Johns' epistles, reveals an incredible trust, reliance and reverence towards the name and person of Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ and his crucifixion and resurrection were the only messages preached in the 1st C. First and foremost.

But you, by your own words and a wave of your hand, like most Witnesses, disregard Jesus as merely being an agent used by Jehovah to vindicate his universal sovereignty.

"Are you sure this is a wise use of your time?"

By pointing out to Witnesses, and neutrals, that Jesus Christ alone is the gospel message?

    Yes, it is.

  5. "why preach these topics and not "Christ alone"?"

Our Kingdom Ministry's suggested presentation is not the sum and total of the message of Jehovah's Witnesses. Rather, they are simply to arouse interest in the message. The real message is that Jesus Christ is the Heavenly King over all the earth, and that we must obey him.

"If mankind is standing under Jehovah's judgement, and the only hope of salvation comes through trust and believing in Jesus Christ, as the Bible makes clear, why talk about "marital betrayal"?"

To pique interest in the central message. Has your pastor ever started a sermon talking about something that he would later tie into Jesus?

  6. " The real message is that Jesus Christ is the Heavenly King over all the earth, and that we must obey him."

    Is it?

2 Cor 5: 18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: 19 that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.

20 We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. 21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

"Has your pastor ever started a sermon talking about something that he would later tie into Jesus?"

Yes. But notice, the message would be about Jesus. But that's to be expected considering Christians give honour Jesus (the Son) just as we honour the Father in Heaven.
